The Himalayan Club Kekoo Naoroji Book Award


Kekoo Naoroji Book Award For Himalayan LiteratureThe Himalayan Club in association with Naoroji family and Godrej has set up a Mountain Literature Award for the best book on the Himalaya. Kekoo Naoroji had a long association with the Himalayan Club and he served as President and Secretary in the past.

This time, because of the unusual circumstances that have affected work, the award instituted in his name will be for a book published between 1st January 2021 and 31st December 2021. The subjects can cover mountains, mountaineering, people, culture, environment, flora and fauna, politics and related aspects.

The Himalayan Club has appointed a special Jury to decide the winner. To enter a book for consideration, you will need to send three copies of the book latest by the first week of February, 2022 (earlier the better). The award consists of Indian Rs. 100,000/- (Approx US $ 1300 / £ 1200). The winner will be announced in the month of February 2022.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The award is for non-fiction based on the following parameters:
    1. Content: topics related to mountaineering, natural history, culture, environment, exploration and other aspects relating to the Himalaya including Karakoram, Hindu Kush and adjacent Tibet.
    2. Literary merit.
  2. Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  3. Two free copies of the book must be sent to India and one free copy must be sent to the address below.
  4. The Award will be announced in the month of February 2022.
  5. The books received for the competition will go to the Godrej Archives and The Himalayan Club Library.
  6. The competition is open only for the first English language published edition of a book.
  7. The same book cannot be re-entered for consideration even if it is within the timeline criteria.
