CLUB PROCEEDINGS, 1967-68

The Thirty-ninth Annual General Meeting was held at 8/3 Alipore Park Road, Calcutta, on December 28, 1967, at 6.30 p.m., for the purpose of:

  1. Confirming the Minutes of the Thirty-eighth Annual General Meeting held on December 14, 1966.
  2. Receiving the Committee's Report and Audited Accounts for the year ended December 31, 1966, and, if thought fit, passing them.

The London Reunion was held at the Oriental Club on April 5, 1968, when 43 members and guests were present. Capt. J. Noel gave a Himalayan picture talk. The Reunion is arranged about the same time each year by Mr. V. S. Risoe, 20 Sandy Lane,. Cheam, Surrey. Members who are in the U.K. should contact Mr. Risoe.

For the last two years a Reunion has been held in Tokyo during December. These functions have been organized by our Local Secretary, Mr. Y. Mitas Namamugi Tsurumi-ku. Yokohama, It is hoped that this will be an annual event.

MEMBERSHIP

The Club's membership at the end of December 1968 stood at 578 of whom 332 were Life Members and 5 Honorary Members. During the two years under review total membership fell by 22. The names of 16 Founder Members stand on the current Members' Register.

HIMALAYAN JOURNAL, VOL. XXIX:

All papers intended for publication should be forwarded to the Hon. Editor, Himalayan Club, Post Box No. 9049, Calcutta 16. It is requested that articles should be typewritten and preferably accompained by sketch-maps ; these should be clearly drawn in Indian ink with references given, if possible, to the existing Survey Sheets. Photographs should be clear, with caption and definition as accurate and sharp as possible; they should be at least half- plate size, printed on glossy paper. The Editor will be glad to receive articles of general Himalayan interest and also on subjects other than climbing.

JOURNAL BACK NUMBERS

The only volumes now available for sale are Vols. XIX, XXII, XXIII, XXV, XXVI and XXVII which are priced at Rs.10 per copy, post free, for members. These volumes can be obtained from the Hon. Librarian in Calcutta. Mr. V. S. Risoe also holds a few spare copies in London.

DESPATCH OF THE JOURNAL

Responsibility for non-delivery of the Journal cannot be accepted if members do not notify their change of address. Considerable trouble is caused in readdressing Journals returned, and duplicate copies cannot be sent, except on payment.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Members are requested to notify the Hon. Secretary promptly of any change of address. If this Journal has not been correctly addressed, will you please advise the Hon. Secretary immediately of the alterations ?

CLUB TIES

Club ties made of Terylene are available with the Secretary in Calcutta at Rs.25 each. Stock of Terylene ties are also available with Mr. V. S. Risoe in London.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

A new class of membership has been introduced for students. The Entrance Fee is Rs.10 and the Annual Subscription Rs.12. Application Forms can be obtained from the Hon. Secretary.

JOURNAL INDEX

Mr. D. F. O. Dangar has continued the good work of indexing the Himalayan Journal and the Index for Volume XXVII is being included with members copies of this Journal Should any member require copies of the previous Journal Index, they are available from either Mr. V. S. Risoe in London or the Hon. Librarian in Calcutta. Non-members can purchase a complete set for Rs.5. F
