CLUB NEWS:

A very active year for the Himalayan Club. Many Sectional meetings were organized at Bombay (14), Delhi (10) and Calcutta (3). Bombay section organised the 4th Annual Seminar with many illustrated talks. Annual Club Dinners were held at Bombay (Chief guest Peter Lloyd) and Calcutta.

Himalayan Journal Vol. 42 was published in April while The Himalayan Club Newsletter 40 was published on 17 February.

The Grindlay's Bank Mountain Scholarships were awarded to 5 trainees. Many new books and items of mountaineering equipment were added to the stores. Annual Subscription rates were revised from 1 January, 1987.

The Club membership continues to grow beyond 900 members, spread over all parts of the world. The membership is open to all those who are committed to various aspects of Himalayan interest.
