90th year celebration - ‘Design a Logo’ Contest

Design a logo contest on the occasion of 90th year celebration of The Himalayan Club

The Himalayan Club, founded on 17th February 1928, will be entering in its 90th year shortly. We are happy to announce Design a Logo Contest on the occasion of the Himalayan Club’s 90th year celebration.

From time to time, using the Himalayan Club’s Chorten logo as the base, some other logos were used by the Club to celebrate various events. These logos were used to commemorate only that particular occasion and the Chorten designed by Cooke remains the main emblem of the club.

Official Rules
The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for the celebrations of the Himalayan Club’s 90th year of inception. The logo may be used in all media - including online, print, on merchandise and other visual collateral. Following are the official contest rules:
  1. The Contest is open only to individuals. The Contest is not open to companies, educational institutions, organizations, etc. or to groups associated with such institutions.
  2. All submitted work must be the original work of the entrant(s) and must not include, be based on, or derived from any pre-existing or third-party designs, trademarks, or copyrighted images.
  3. All entries will become the property of the Himalayan Club. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that any and all intellectual property rights in the logo design are deemed assigned to The Himalayan Club.
  4. Except where prohibited by law, an entry submission into this contest constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, likeness, prize information, and information provided on the entry form for publicity purposes, without further permission or compensation.
  5. We will attempt to acknowledge all entries within one week of receipt; however, we cannot be responsible for entries or responses lost in email.
  6. The Himalayan Club reserves the right to modify the winning logo to better fit the needs of the Initiative.
  7. The decisions of the Selection Committee will be final. The Selection Committee reserves the right not to select a winner, if in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.
  8. The selected winner MUST submit a scalable vector version of the winning design so that it is adaptable to electronic and print media, to reproduction on small and large surfaces, and to use in color or in grayscale.

How to Enter
To enter the Himalayan Club’s 90th year Logo Design Contest, eligible participants must:
  1. Submit a logo design in JPEG/ GIF/ PNG/ PDF formats ONLY.
  2. If you are chosen as a winner, you MUST be able to provide a high resolution vector file (e.g. in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign) within 7 days after communication from us.
  3. Submit your completed Entry Form and logo design to contests@himalayanclub.org with Entry - HC logo contest as its subject line.
  4. Each entry should be accompanied with following details:
    (a) Name; (b) Address; (c) Country; (d) Phone; (e) Email; (f) Logo description (Please describe the symbolism behind your logo design).
  5. Last day to send your entry is Sunday, October 02, 2016 (IST).
  6. There is NO FEE to enter this Contest.

Selection Criteria
A Selection Committee comprised of the Himalayan Club’s Managing Committee will evaluate all entries based on the following criteria (though other criteria may be considered):
  1. Relevance - Does the entry align with the theme and legacy of the Himalayan Club?
  2. Originality - Does the composition exhibit original design, creativity, and imagination?
  3. Aesthetic Quality - Does the submission command attention? Does it display visual balance and color coordination? Do all the elements work together to create a unified and appealing design?

Award
The winner will receive:
  1. Life Membership of the Himalayan Club.
  2. Copies of previous 5 Himalayan Journals.
  3. Subscription for next 5 Himalayan Journals.
  4. The Winner will be given appropriate publicity using the Himalayan Club’s website and its Facebook group.
