Delhi section talk: The Lure of Everest by Sujoy Das

THE LURE OF EVEREST : Ever since the disappearance of George Mallory and Sandy Irvine high on the slopes of Mount Everest in 1924, the mountain has continued to draw climbers, trekkers, photographers and scientists to the Solo Khumbu - the high valleys around Everest, the home of the sherpas. Seasoned trekker and photographer Sujoy Das has been visiting the Everest region for more than twenty five years. In this illustrated talk, Das portrays the lure of the Everest region through a series of photo essays and a video presentation.

A seasoned trekker and photographer, Sujoy Das feels most at home in the high Himalayas where he has been photographing for more than thirty years. His latest book on the Nepal Himalaya is an outcome of several trips to Nepal over the years and will be released at New Delhi after the presentation. Founder of South Col Expeditions, he has introduced many trekkers to the magic of the Khumbu and Annapurna regions in Nepal. His images and accompanying essays have featured in The Washington Post, APA Publications, Outdoor Journal, Outlook Traveller and several other prestigious publications. He has co-authored and photographed Sikkim - A Travellers Guide with Arundhati Ray and Lonely Planet Nepal for the Indian Traveller.
