Talk: Himalayan Rhapsody

Wandering through the lesser known mountains

7.15 p.m. - 8.15 p.m.

Talk Description: Cdr. Satyabrata Dam is a submariner by profession where he navigates through the murky ocean depths of this world. He is a mountaineer by occupation since in his present capacity as the Head of the Indian Navy Mountaineering Cell, it is his job to train budding mountaineers and then lead them into the harm's way. He is a climber by passion and has been climbing from the age of 10. He often delivers lectures around the country and the world. His mountaineering articles and photographs are regularly published in some of the world’s leading mountaineering journals.

Himalayan Rhapsody – wandering through the lesser known mountains: Glimpses of remote valleys, people, glaciers and virgin peaks in some of the far flung corners of the Himalaya and lesser ranges. The talk will cover the Miyar and Pangi Valleys in Lahaul across rarely traversed passes and another short trek across a remote pass from Zanskar to Kishtwar. The journey will conclude with a peek into the pristine Dhauladhar ranges dotted with alpine lakes and beautiful people.
