The Himalayan Club is open to all lovers of the mountains. Our members are found throughout the world and include some legendary mountaineers, explorers and people who have contributed immensely to studying the Himalaya.

Since our focus is on the Himalaya, we naturally prefer to have our members with some experience of visiting the Himalaya. Given below are the rules for qualifying for various membership categories. We encourage you to apply! At the bottom of this section you can download an application in PDF format.

We have five categories of membership - patron, honorary, life, full and associate. The first two of these categories are by invitation of course, and given below are the qualifications for other categories of membership

Applicants are expected to have experience of at least two visits to the Himalayan/Karakoram/Hindu Kush ranges either for climbing, trekking, exploration or special studies. Alternative experience in other mountain ranges will be favourably considered and the committee in the case of deserving overseas applicants may relax this requirement.

Residents in India who may not have fulfilled the criteria for full membership may apply for associate membership that can be converted to full membership after meeting the above requirements.
